Carrara Honed Marble – Matte Finish, Classic Kitchen
This is Carrara marble with a honed finish, installed by Cheap Quartz. White base, fine grey veining, integrated sink, matching upstands.
Honed means matte. No reflection, no shine, no high-gloss surface catching every fingerprint and watermark. The stone just sits there looking like stone. In a kitchen that gets used, that's not a small thing — polished marble is beautiful and unforgiving; honed is easier to live with.
The veining on this slab is fine and even. Light grey lines, no large sweeps, nothing that pulls the eye in one direction. It adds texture without dominating. With cream or white cabinetry it settles into the background and lets the cabinet hardware and fixtures do the talking.
Sink and upstands are the same material throughout. The counter runs into the wall with no grout line, no colour shift around the basin. That level of continuity takes more planning than a standard worktop drop-in, but it shows.
One thing worth knowing about marble: no two slabs are identical. The veining you see here is specific to this stone. Yours will be similar but not the same. Some people like that. Some people find it unsettling to not know exactly what they're getting.
